Impressit - Exhibition at Harris Museum, Preston



















Please follow this link to the Harris Museum website where you can find information on the current exhibition 'Impressit' that is exhibiting 13 artists working with varying print processes - including Oran O'Reilly (Senior Lecturer in Fine Art). The exhibition was curated by Pete Clarke, Tracy Hill and Magda Stawarska Beavan from UCLAN. The exhibition runs until 27th April.

Following the success of the 2011 box set of Prints 'Trace' by students, staff and invited artists, I am very happy to announce that the 2012 box set 'Above, Below' is almost completed. A selection of the prints are on display in the entrance of the Grosvenor Building, MMU (including the Silkscreen print seen above by Jo Lansley entitled 'Mother')

Prints have been produced by invited artists Ang Bartram, Anthony Ratcliffe, Joby Williamson and Jennifer McIntyre, staff from MMU Print including Mike Hitchens, Howard Goody and Oran O'Reilly, aswell as some fantastic prints from graduating Students Tom Cope, Lois Gilbert, Sean Liddle, Alex McIntosh, Mark Robinson, Steve Romang, Abbie Talifero, Ruth Vidler and Renate Wendel.

Prints will be for sale individually as well as in complete box sets. If you would like any more information about prints available from MMU please email o.oreilly@mmu.ac.uk

4 Prints chosen by MCR Contemporary sponsors to be given as prizes

Xentum, one of the sponsors of the Manchester Contemporary chose 4 prints from the Trace Box set to give away as prizes to visitors of the art fair. They were Jennifer McIntyre's beautiful and subtle rabbit lithograph (pictured), Mike Sherridan's etching of Mother Macs Public House (pictured), Reza Ostad Saffari's silkscreen print and Sean Titcombe's print of reflected buildings.

Ex-student Chris O'Neill wins 5plus prize

Congratulations to recent Print graduate Chris O'Neill who won the 5plus prize for emerging MMU talent held at 5plus Architects..

'5plus Celebrates Creative New Talent.

Ten Manchester art graduates were given the chance to exhibit their work to an influential business audience when a city centre office was turned into a gallery for the night.
5plus Architects used their top floor offices in Grange House on John Dalton Street to showcase the varied works of the MMU students and also announced an annual award to celebrate new creative talent in the city.
The first £500 prize was won by Christopher Michael O’Neill whose work, which seeks to give sound a more physical representation, received most votes from the audience.'

Trace - Print Box set

Students, staff and invited artists have all contributed to a Box set of Prints entiltled 'Trace'. The idea of the box set is to keep a record of the varying nature and approaches to Print at MMU. Each artist has responded to the word 'Trace' in a unique way and through a diverse range of print processes (Woodcut, Silkscreen, Etching, Digital, Linocut, Lithography). All sales from the Box set will help Print students in the future and also assist in the production of future box sets of prints.

Invited artists included in 'Trace' are Alison Erika Forde (image right), Andrew Bracey, Laurence Lane. Staff include Oran O'Reilly, Chara Lewis, Howard Goody, Mike Hitchens. Graduating Students : Amy Allen, Leighton Bohl, Lois Davenport, Richard Deloughry (imageleft), Eleri Ellis-Williams, Jennifer MacIntyre, Chris O'Neill, Reza Ostad-Saffari, Rima Salem, Michael Sheridan, Lorene Simpson, Sean Titcombe, Sam Wild.

The box set consists of 20 prints (each print is 25x35cm) and are presented in an archival box.

Individual Prints can be bought for £50 each, the box set of 20 prints can be purchased for £700.

Fine Art Printmedia Degree Show


The Fine Art Degree show at MMU ran form the 17th - 23rd June. I would like to say congratulations to all of the Printmedia students who put on a fantastic exhibition in two areas of the Grosvenor Building. There was an extremely diverse range of work that saw students working with both established and contemporary digital approaches to Print - with some interesting combinations of drawing, photography, installation, sound and video. The image is of Lorene Simpson and her book 'The Seeker' based on the story of Frank Searle (intrepid Loch Ness Monster hunter). I will be attaching more photos of the Degree Show soon...........

Leaf Lungs


Here are some beautifully delicate lungs made from leaves by one of our current 2nd year students Jess Loveday. Jess' work focuses on the ephemeral as a metaphor for climate change and deforestation.

MMU Print - Exhibition 2010



Please come and see the work of the graduating Print students, part of the MMU Fine Art Degree Show.
The work of the Print students is located in three areas of the Grosvenor building (Rooms G01, G111 and the Link Gallery)
The exhibition opens to the public on Friday 18th June and continues until the 23rd June.
The Print students continue to question the boundaries of Printmaking - with work that explores a wide range of subject matter and uses both modern and established processes of making.
Above is the work of Joe Fox (a set of 3 books that have been printed using Lithography)

Brass Art : The Non-Existence Of The Unnamed - at the International 3

For their second solo show at The International 3, Brass Art continue to develop the expansive series of watercolour drawings collectively titled, ‘The Myth of Origins’, in which the shadow forms of the artists encounter the manifestation of their collective psyche.

Chara Lewis, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Printmedia is a member of Brass Art

The exhibition will run from 13th feb - 20th march


Digital Drawings to be shown in Oldeburg, Germany


Oran (Head of Printmedia) will be showing some Digital drawings in the Horst Janssen Museum, Oldenburg from Feb 28th to April 11th 2010 as part of the International Print Triennial.
